Ahead of the main football event this summer, Kyiv saw a presentation of a new collection of football boots Nike Clash, designed for Euro 2012. The new product was unveiled to journalists by the players from all over Ukraine, namely by Shakhtar’s Taras Stepanenko, Oleksandr Kucher and Vyacheslav Shevchuk, Dynamo’s Andriy Shevchenko and Taras Michalik, Dnipro’s Yevhen Konoplyanka and Ruslan Rotan, Metalist’s Marko Devic and Bogdan Butko from Illychivets. All of them have been called up by the Ukraine national team.
In addition to the stars of the Ukrainian Premier League, such players as Cristiano Ronaldo, Andres Iniesta, Wayne Rooney and Gerard Pique will also appear in the brand new football boots during Euro 2012. The first test for these boots will be this year’s Champions League final due to take place on May 19.
The Nike representative Stas Dembovskyy told about the history of this footwear and stressed that the features of different types of players had been taken into account before designing every model of Nike Clash Collection. Thus, the bright red colour on Mercurial Vapor VIII must emphasize the players’ explosive speed, CTR 360 Maestri II represents reliable and confident display by midfielders, Laser IV is designed for strikers and Tiempo Legend are traditional football boots, admired by more than one generation of players. The common feature of all models is a white colour.
The first ones who took to the stage were the defenders. Butko, Kucher, Michalik, Shevchuk. These players could well be Ukraine’s possible back four during Euro 2012. Notably, all of them use different models of football boots. Then, the Ukrainian defenders answered the journalists’ questions.
Nike has just unleashed a new range of colorways called the “Nike Clash Collection”that will be used by players in the 2012 Euro Championships this summer. Each striking color design stands out on pitch and delivers performance engineering for some of the best players in the world.
Nike’s Vapor VIII, CTR360 Maestri II, T90 Laser IV and Tiempo Legend IVboots will feature a color clash design of traditional white with a bold second color signifying each boots style to stand out on pitch. As reference, nothing has changed on the boot performance wise, they have simply undergone an upgraded paint job.

“The clash of traditional white with very modern and youthful colors will make a really powerful and disruptive statement on pitch,” said Andrew Caine, Nike Global Creative Director for Football Footwear. “The Nike Clash Collection delivers highly engineered boots with sharp color contrast reflecting the clash of rivalries and competition we will see this summer. We’re celebrating that with distinctive and stand out color.”
